March 2008 News Letter
World Book Day
World Book Day is on Thursday 6th March. Children can come to school dressed as their favourite book character. Keep it simple and try to avoid too many football kits!! P.E. lessons will happen as normal in the afternoon, so you will need to take that into account. All children will receive a book voucher which they can use in any book shop. We have a Book Fair open in school for a week beginning 10th March. You will be able to purchase books before and after school.
PTA
The next event is the Spring Disco at 6.00 on 14th March. Tickets are on sale now - please send reply slips with money into school as soon possible.
Parent/Teacher meetings
The lists will be up in the entrance hall on Monday 3rd march for you to sign up for your meeting with your child's teacher. There are 2 days to choose from - Monday 17th March and Tuesday 18th March. If you are unable to come into school yourself, please telephone in and we will sign up for you.
School Meals
You are able to choose a hot meal for your child or a packed lunch, which contains sandwiches, fruit, yoghurt, drink etc.
If you are receiving any kind of income support or family tax credit please consider filling in the form for free school meals, even if you have no intention of using the facility. Your information remains confidential and at no time is the child singled out. Call school for more information.
New secretary
We have appointed a new school secretary, Mrs Evans, who will begin work after Easter. She is already a school secretary so should settle in really quickly with us. We really look forward to welcoming to in our school.
Garden
If you have access to any special offers or even free garden products, please let us know. We particularly want wood chippings at the moment.
Year 6
Year 6 had a wonderful time at Kingswood and would like to thank Miss Payne, Steve and Mrs White who went with them. Their behaviour was exemplary and all came back in one piece.
Windows and path
Work on the windows has begun, with Year 6 now complete.
The work on the path is complete so now we await the new gate. We will inform you when it is possible to begin using the new entrance. We all need to keep off the areas on the field and lawns that look like soil as grass seeds have been put down.
Henley on line
Do have a look at the Henley web site which is updated every week. Most weeks, we have an article on there submitted by Mrs Field. http://www.henleynews.co.uk/
Assemblies
Please join us for our Year 6 assembly on Friday 7th March and Year 4 on Friday 14th March, both starting around 9.05.
Easter Celebration
Please join us for our whole school Easter Celebration starting at 1.30 on Wednesday 19th March followed by prizes for the best Easter Garden in KS2 and the best decorated egg in KS1. You may take children home when we have finished at around 2.15.
Open afternoon
Monday 10th March 1.30 - 3.00. This is aimed mostly at families thinking about school places in September 09. Everyone is welcome to come and look around school, talk to children and staff and see displays of work and resources in the hall.
Accounts
We are looking for someone to audit the school fund for our annual accounts. If you have skills in this area and have the time to donate to the school, please contact us.
Thinking Day
It was wonderful to see how many of our children belong to the uniformed organisations such as Brownies and Cubs as they came to school in their uniforms last Friday. If your child wants to join an organisation they will know now who to ask in their class.
